from 5:30 PM · Kissa Kissa, 667 Franklin Avenue, Crown Heights
one hundred years to the day

John Coltrane was born on September 23, 1926. Kissa Kissa marks his hundredth birthday on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026, with a free Coltrane 100 night at Kissa Kissa, the Japanese-style jazz vinyl listening bar at 667 Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
One hundred years to the day
The whole evening belongs to the centennial. Two new Coltrane box sets carry the room from the moment the doors open until they close, spun as one long thread.
Two box sets, one long thread
An early listen to Coltrane 100: Selections from 1951-1967 brackets the night: the early years while the room fills, then the Impulse! years to close. In between, the 1960-1964 mono box plays all six of his Atlantic albums in order, Giant Steps through Olé, cut from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray.
A book to take home
We are giving away copies of Coltrane: The Definitive Visual Celebration of the Legend, the new book from Ten Speed Press edited by Ravi Coltrane. Copies go out through the night, and there will be more in the listening lounge to flip through at your leisure.
Doors at 5:30 PM with happy hour until 7. No cover. Reservations encouraged.
Free and open to the public. No cover, no ticket.
